La Jolla Playhouse Annual Gala 2013

Thank you to our incredible donors for making the 2013 La Jolla Playhouse Gala an unprecedented success!

The festive evening began with a cocktail party in the Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre Lobby in the Joan and Irwin Jacobs Center for La Jolla Playhouse, featuring signature spirits and savory treats. Guests then moved into the theatre where they enjoyed a specially-prepared, dinner-by-the-bite menu catered by Chef Jeffrey Strauss of Pamplemousse Grille. Afterwards, Playhouse Artistic Director Christopher Ashley and Managing Director Michael S. Rosenberg presented an overview of the Playhouse’s past season and a taste of what’s to come on our stages in 2013, as well as a tribute to beloved Playhouse patrons whom we lost this year. Guests were then treated to an uplifting spoken-word performance by students in the Playhouse’s acclaimed in-school InterAction program, followed by a one-of-a-kind performance by the iconic rock band, The Flaming Lips, composers of the Playhouse’s hit musical Yoshimi Battle the Pink Robots. The evening continued with late night bites, delectable drinks and dancing to the sounds of Zowie Bowie.
