Audience Enrichment

To deepen patrons' enjoyment of each production, La Jolla Playhouse offers a broad range of enrichment events including the following options:

Illuminating Audience Events

Talkback Tuesdays:

After select Tuesday evening performances, participate in a lively discussion with actors and/or artistic staff.

Insider Events:

Join the Playhouse staff 45 minutes before the performance for an insider's view of the production you are about to see.

Discovery Sunday:

Join special guest speakers post-performance, as they engage audience members in a moderated discussion exploring the issues and themes in the play.

Post-Show Reaction:

Enjoy coffee and conversation as you discuss your reactions to themes of the play with members of Playhouse staff.

Audience Enrichment Guides:

Learn more about each play in the season by reading our online Know Before You Go guide, found in the "Resources & Links" tab section under every play web page. You may also receive the guide by email simply by joining the Playhouse's email club.

Check the calendar located on each play web page for dates of Illuminating Audience Events mentioned above.

Insider Events sponsored by Jazz 88 FM. Discovery Sundays sponsored by KPBS.

Play & Party

This teen event, hosted by La Jolla Playhouse's Student Board, includes the performance and a post-show dessert and dance party where guests can mingle with members of the cast and crew. For more information, contact the Education Department at (858) 550-1070 x101.

ACCESS Performance Series and Pay-What-You-Can

ACCESS:

La Jolla Playhouse provides American Sign Language interpretation for audience members who are deaf or hard of hearing. Live Audio Description for audience members who are blind or have low vision is also available along with pre-show sensory tours to enhance the experience for patrons. Pay-What-You-Can:

The ACCESS performance is also the designated PAY-WHAT-YOU-CAN performance, with 100 tickets held back for the Pay-What-You-Can sales. PAY-WHAT-YOU-CAN tickets are on sale from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm, but please be aware that some patrons will arrive and stand in line beginning several hours prior to that time. Patrons must pay in cash only — with a $1 minimum. There is a maximum of two tickets per patron for PAY-WHAT-YOU-CAN.
